Tjossem Rd, Ellensburg, WA

Borrego EPC completed its first project in Washington, a 6.7 MW single-axis tracker project for Greenbacker. This project is the only solar site in Ellensburg, WA.

This site has two systems, one is part of a local Penstemon community solar program, and the other is selling energy back to the utility, Puget Sound Energy (PSE). This is the largest system the offtaker utility Puget Sound Energy (PSE) has ever managed. Borrego informed PSE throughout the design and construction process, including explaining system drawings and operational settings. This system is expected to generate 11,402,100 kWh annually and offset 8,080 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent each year.

Our teams were very hands-on with this project, providing weekly communications to the utility and system owner and the landowner, a farmer. Borrego built this project so the farmland could be restored after 25 years. Additionally, Borrego worked with the landowner to build irrigation lines not to interrupt water flow to the existing farmland.
