Lake Herman Rd - Benicia, CA

Borrego’s EPC built this 7 MW single-axis tracker project. Greenbacker owns the system. This solar project is the first solar site in the local community of Benicia, California, and the largest in this area.

Community Impact

This site will generate approximately 14,081,770 kWh annually for the utility offtaker Marin Clean Energy. The system will offset 9,980 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent each year and power over 1,185 homes annually.

Borrego ensured that over 50% of the team working on-site was local to the area, bringing jobs directly back to Benicia.

Building for the Environment

This site presented many elevations, which our EPC team designed and constructed around. Some of the torque tube heights reached over 10 feet. Additionally, knowing water is a crucial resource in the area, our teams installed two 5,000-gallon water tanks for the irrigation system.

Meeting Local Regulations

Because of the size of this project, Borrego worked in close communication with California ISO as the system came online. Following the CAISO process, our teams provided specific equipment, additional SCADA monitoring capabilities, and a SCADA field Point-To-Point (P2P) test with CAISO.
