University of Massachusetts Amherst - Energy Storage

Borrego installed this 1.3 MW battery storage system for the University of Massachusetts Amherst. This 1.3 MW / 4 MWh lithium ion battery will optimize the onsite solar production of the University’s solar canopy system and improve the campus’s electrical system resiliency. The battery will also help the University reduce peak transmission and capacity demand costs. 

This project won the Smart Energy Decisions “Higher Education and Energy Storage and Microgrids” award at their annual Innovation Awards.
