Bullock Road Solar + Storage

This DC-coupled system with high DC-to-AC ratios enables the system owner to push more clean energy onto the local electrical grid.

Borrego developed, designed, and built this complex solar-plus-storage project in Freetown, MA. Working at the forefront of large scale solar and storage technology, Borrego engineered this DC-coupled system with high DC-to-AC ratios to enable the system owner to push more clean energy onto the local electrical grid. The system, owned by AES, includes 2 separate battery units, providing approximately 26 MWh’s of energy storage along with a 12 MW solar system, which are both combined behind the same interconnection.

During the development of the project, the goal was to build solar and storage at a site adjacent to where future housing would be built so that residents could benefit from the pre-built solar installation. As part of the construction, Borrego also managed aspects of the civil engineering so that the road access, drainage, and a cul de sac were installed so these features would be ready for future use by the housing development.
